Transportation & Hazardous Materials Compliance
Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg provides strategic counsel to domestic and international clients
on compliance with transportation and hazardous materials (HAZMAT) regulations, as well as congressional
and executive branch policy. The firm has a successful track record representing automotive, aviation and
transit companies, parts suppliers, metals and chemicals manufacturers.
Our areas of expertise cover HAZMAT, pipeline safety, transit, aviation, and ports. We advise clients on
policy, program and regulatory issues. ST&R also assists companies in securing federal resources through
bids, authorizations and grants, including advice with domestic sourcing requirements under “Buy America”
and related legislation. To achieve clients’ goals, we rely on comprehensive and cross-practice experience,
frequently through administrative or regulatory measures at federal agencies, including the Department of
Transportation, Pipeline and Hazardous Material Safety Administration, Federal Aviation Administration,
Federal Transit Administration, and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
ST&R represents clients with approvals and special permits for HAZMAT transportation, interpretations,
investigations and enforcement; safety issues and federal licensing.
To provide comprehensive counsel, ST&R works closely with professionals across several firm practice
groups, including Customs, Export Controls, Government Relations and Border Security. We also assist
clients in compliance with safety regimes implemented by the Transportation Safety Administration,
and with the requirements of the DHS SAFETY Act to encourage the development and deployment of innovative
anti-terrorism products and services, while providing liability protections to companies providing such
products and services.
